Safe neighbourhoods mean everyone belongs. People can enjoy our city with confidence, stay connected, and care for the spaces we share.
Traffic safety affects every Burlington neighbourhood. I am proud of the safer school routes advanced through the School Traffic Safety and Mobility Committee I started, and of launching Community Safety Zones citywide. We need smarter traffic calming and safer street design.
Proposed Initiatives
With your support, I propose to:
- Modernize Bylaws and Penalties, and Hire Proactive Bylaw Ambassadors: Work with local police to ensure bylaws are practical and enforceable, including a citywide Community Watch Program. More bylaw officers can address e-scooters, vehicle noise, property standards and conduct in our parks & event spaces.
- Negotiate the Return of the Downtown / South Burlington Police & Outreach Sub-station: Restore a visible, community-based police and outreach support presence south of the QEW, complementing the HRPS 3 District Station in North Burlington.
- Create a Burlington Neighbourhood Readiness Plan: Prepare neighbourhoods for extreme weather by identifying priority investments, improving stormwater readiness, protecting tree canopy, and strengthening access to shelter. A connected Burlington is a community ready to Stand By in challenging moments.
