As the City’s representative on the Burlington Downtown Business Association, I have heard directly from business owners large and small about the challenges of serving our community and employing our neighbours.

Local businesses are owned and run by our friends and neighbours. They create jobs and help make Burlington vibrant. We must make it easier for entrepreneurs and store owners to succeed.
A stronger local economy depends on every part of Burlington: manufacturers that export worldwide, farms that define our rural areas and feed us, tech companies with global reach, and independent businesses that give our city its character.

Integrate Invest Burlington with the City’s Development & Growth Management Department: Bring economic development and planning closer together so business opportunities are not lost to red tape, creating jobs while protecting Burlington’s rural and employment lands from piecemeal conversion.

Create a 30-Day Business Issue Resolution Process: Give local employers timely access to information and support when they face unexpected permitting, regulatory, or infrastructure issues.

Expand Business Improvement Areas & Shopping Plaza Revitalization: Build on the success of BIAs by helping more commercial districts coordinate promotions and attract customers. Expand to include a Rural BIA and a Fairview Corridor BIA.
